Red Hen Sod can be purchased a few ways. Sod can be picked up by you or delivered by us, OR you may contact a local garden center where we regularly ship. See below locations for contact information.
We price our sod by each 2-foot x 5-foot piece (10 square foot), so have your square footage ready when you call. See our measuring tips to help you figure out how much to order before you call, as sod cannot be returned once it is harvested for you.

Customers will normally pick up between 1 and 200 rolls. Each piece of sod is rolled for transport and weighs approximately 35 lbs.
Each 4-foot x 4-foot pallet of 50 rolls (500 sq. ft.) weighs approximately 1,800-2,000 lbs. Sod is loaded by our experienced turf crew by forklift or (small amounts) by hand. For larger amounts, a pickup truck and/or trailer is recommended with safety straps.
You can haul about 10 rolls in a car, 15 rolls in a large SUV, 50 rolls in a half ton pickup and 100 rolls in a three-quarter ton pickup. Customers are welcome to make multiple trips per day if needed.
